Technical Rider
The technical document that travels with the booking: input list, backline, monitors, front-of-house requirements, stage plot notes, power, lighting and crew. Its design point is the separation of requirements from preferences — a rider that presents everything as essential gets skimmed and ignored, while one that says plainly which three things the show cannot happen without gets those three things. Sound engineers read riders; they stop reading unrealistic ones.

Frequently asked
Will a venue actually read it?
More likely if it is one page and honest about what is genuinely required. Send it at booking, not on the day.
Does it define the terminology?
No — it assumes the vocabulary of the trade. If you are booking your first shows, ask the engineer; they would far rather explain than guess.
