Combine, Split & Rotate PDFs

Pick several PDFs — or photos of documents taken on a phone — put them in the order you want, take only the pages you need from each, turn any that came in sideways, and get back a single PDF. Free for three files at a time; unlocked it does the whole job at once. It runs entirely inside your browser: nothing is uploaded, so the bank statements, medical letters and claim forms people actually need to combine never touch anyone else's server. Photos are embedded exactly as they came off the camera, with no re-compression and no loss of detail, and their rotation is corrected automatically so a page never comes out sideways.

Frequently asked

Does my file get uploaded anywhere?

No. The combining happens in your browser, on your machine. That is the point of paying for this one rather than using a free website — the free ones upload your document to a server you know nothing about, which is a strange thing to do with a bank statement or a medical record.

What can I combine?

PDFs, photos (JPEG, PNG, and HEIC from an iPhone) and text or Markdown notes, in any mix and any order. Photographing a paper form with a phone and combining the shots into one PDF is the commonest use, so it is a first-class path, not an afterthought.

Do my photos lose any quality?

JPEGs and ordinary PNGs do not: a PDF can hold both formats directly, so those bytes are embedded untouched. HEIC, WebP and PNGs with transparency have no direct PDF equivalent, so your browser re-draws them as JPEG first — very slightly softer, and the tool tells you which files that happened to rather than leaving you to notice.

Can I add a cover note?

Yes. Drop in a .txt or .md file and it is typeset as pages ahead of your scans. Headings, lists, tables and links are laid out; bold and italic are not styled, and the text is rendered in the standard PDF font, so accented letters are transliterated rather than dropped.

Will my photos lose quality?

No. A PDF can hold JPEG data directly, so your original photo bytes are embedded untouched — no decoding, no re-encoding, no quality setting. The pages are exactly as sharp as the photos you took.

Why are some of my photos sideways in other tools but not here?

Phones do not rotate the pixels when you turn the camera; they record the photo as the sensor saw it and attach a tag saying which way is up. Tools that ignore that tag produce sideways pages from files that are not wrong. This reads the tag and rotates the page to match.

What about password-protected PDFs?

They are skipped, and named, rather than half-copied into a broken file. Open the file in your PDF reader, save an unprotected copy, and combine that.

What happens to fillable form fields?

The pages come across, including the boxes as they look, but a combined file cannot keep the document-level form structure — so the fields stop being fillable. You are told when this applies to one of your files. Flatten or print the form to PDF first if the entered values matter.

Are bookmarks and links kept?

Links on a page are kept. Bookmarks are not, because they index the original page numbering and would point at the wrong pages once the documents are combined.

Is there a limit?

5,000 pages in one go, which is far past any ordinary use. Very large jobs are limited by your own device's memory, not by us.

What do I get for free, and how far can I get with it?

Three files at a time, with no account and no card. That is genuinely enough to finish any job — it just takes more rounds. Combine three files, save the result, then feed that result back in along with two more. Each round therefore adds two files: five files is two rounds, seven is three, eleven is five. The arithmetic is (number of files minus one) divided by two, rounded up. It is entirely workable for a handful of documents and deliberately tedious for fifty, which is what the paid version is for.

How do I take only some pages out of a document?

Type a page range next to the file: 1-3 for the first three, 7 for a single page, 9- for everything from page nine on, or 2-4, 8 to mix them. That is also how you split a document — select the pages you want and nothing else. Ranges run in the order you write them, so 3,1 really does put page three first. A range that cannot be read stops that file and tells you, rather than quietly sending the whole document.

Can I fix a page that scanned sideways?

Yes — set a turn next to the file and every page taken from it is rotated. The turn is ADDED to whatever the page already says, so a scan already marked sideways and turned again ends up the right way up rather than back where it started.
